Belarus forces migrants into EU at gunpoint | World – The Times

The dictator of Belarus is trying to create a new migrant route into the EU by sending thousands of desperate people to the Polish border by bus and forcing them across at gunpoint.
President Lukashenko, who has pledged to use migrants as a tool of political reprisal against EU sanctions, is forcing people through a band of Belarus’s 420km frontier with Poland. Warsaw has called in the army to try to halt the sudden influx.
Dozens of migrants are trapped in a stand-off with armed Belarusian riot police or paramilitaries behind them and Polish soldiers stopping them from advancing into Polish territory, and pushing back any who try to do so.
