A political analyst in Zamfara State, Alhaji Mansur Abubakar, has said that the killings, maiming and kidnappings in the state could be described as a civil war when there is no war in Nigeria, describing it as unacceptable.
Speaking with DAILY POST in Gusau, the state capital, the analyst explained that the number of people being killed in the state on a daily basis surpassed the number of people being killed in the northeast zone.
“It is now clear that the bandits are not operating on their own but with the support of some elites in and out of the state which the security operatives are yet to find out,” he lamented.
According to him, when the former Minister of Defense, Hon. Dan Ali Mansur, lamented that the traditional rulers were responsible for the banditry activities in the state, the monarchs challenged him to name the emirs involved in banditry as he claimed.
“Today the former minister has been vindicated as three emirs and some District Heads in the state have been dethroned due to alleged involvement in banditry activities in the state,” Abubakar added.
Alhaji Abubakar noted that in the state, the prices of food stuffs have been escalating on a daily basis because farming activities are no longer moving as usual, pointing out that nobody can run away from the reality as banditry activities have taken over the entire state.
“The present administration led by Governor Matawalle has tried its best to restore peace in the state but there are many unseen hands working against the Governor’s efforts”.
“These retrogressive elites are enemies of peace and stability in the state. The security agencies should work fast to fish them out. I know that one day, their sins must find them out by God’s grace”.
“Nobody should be deceived, the problem emanated from the elites and not a common man that can only be seen not heard. The dethronement of three emirs and some District Heads has clarified the whole issue,” he said.
The analyst noted that only the common masses are being killed, maimed and abducted while the elites are moving freely, saying that a time must come when the common masses would speak with one voice and pick stones to stone these evil elites.
“Let me tell you the truth, the ant that is destroying a flower lives inside that flower. The security challenges of Zamfara are very much inside the state, until something is done, the situation would remain like that for a long time,” he added.
It could be recalled that Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle once told a gathering that people would be surprised if he exposed those behind the dastard acts.
However, the alleged involvement of traditional rulers have also vindicated the governor who admitted that the common masses were not responsible for the insecurity situation in the state.
