The House of Representatives on Friday went into another rowdy session over consideration of the Electoral Act amendment bill.
Recall that the House had suspended plenary and consideration of the bill following disagreement among members on the mode of transmitting election results on Thursday.
It invited the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) to educate members on the implications and possibility of electronic transmission of results.
Shortly after officials of the NCC left the chamber, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila announced the resumption of consideration of the report after digesting the comments of the NCC officials begining from Clause 52.
The names of some party candidates in the scheduled November 6 Anambra Governorship election were conspicuously missing in the list released on Friday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The list released by the electoral umpire did not contain the names of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, and that of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
However, the name of the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Andy Uba, was contained in the list of cleared candidates released by the commission.
Naija News understands the decision of INEC is in compliance with a court order in relation to the primaries of the political parties.
The Muhammadu Buhari-led administration would have to brace themselves for more legal fireworks following the arrest and extradition of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Reports have emerged that the British High Commission and a law firm in London, Bindmans, have sought the consent of Nnamdi Kanu to take up his case.
According to the IPOB leader’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, he delivered two forms to Kanu on Wednesday during a visit to the office of the Department of State Services (DSS), where he is being detained.

The camp of the leader of INRI Evangelical spiritual church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has hit back at the presidency, saying it dislikes the truth.
The statement from Ayodele’s camp follows a previous attack by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina in an opinion article in which he called out the cleric for making prophecies that were not fulfilled.
Naija News reports Primate Ayodele had among other things prophesied that Nigeria will eventually break up between 2035 and 2040 but in a quick reaction, Adesina in an article titled “Some Prophets See Nothing” told Ayodele to focus on preaching and church welfarism and forget about prophesying.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said efforts are already been made to release his client.
Naija News reports that Ejiofor stated this in a series of posts on his Twitter page on Thursday.
Ejiofor said all efforts would be made to ensure the IPOB leader regains freedom soon, adding that Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team would not fail.
Television and radio stations in Nigeria has been directed by the National Broadcasting Commission not to divulge details of the activities of bandits, terrorists and kidnappers in their reports.
The regulator specifically directed radio and television stations not to “glamourise the activities of insurgents” during their daily Newspaper Reviews. As an unwritten custom, broadcast stations in Nigeria review Newspaper headlines daily before their breakfast shows.
NBC in a letter dated July 7, 2021, issued to television and radio stations, cautioned broadcasters while reporting security challenges in the country.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has denied involvement in the plot that led to the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Naija News recalls that IPOB had threatened to deal with some people who paid a role in the arrest of its leader.
The group said the Minister Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano; and Igbo businessman, Emeka Offor, would pay for their satanic role in Kanu’s crisis.
The Group had earlier accused the above names of betraying its leader due to their selfish interest.
