The Yoruba Appraisal Forum (YAF) has kicked against calls for the split of Nigeria.
The group also condemned plans by agitators to present their petition at the 76th United Nations General Assembly opening September 14.
YAF Coordinator, Adesina Animashaun, in a statement on Tuesday, said such would escalate insecurity and tension in Nigeria.
The Ilana Omo Oodua, a body of Yoruba self-determination groups, had petitioned the UN in July over its demand for an independent Yoruba state.
But YAF stressed that there were plans to dissolve the Nigerian federation by all means.
Animashaun warned “unrepentant” critics of the Federal Government engaging in destructive outbursts and violence against it to stop.
He said the violence by agitators in the South-West was part of the plot to destabilise Nigeria “for the selfish political end of those bankrolling them”.
“It is clear that the masterminds are bent on throwing Nigeria into total chaos to hasten the collapse of governments at state and federal levels to enable them execute their evil plans ahead of 2023,” he said.
The forum advised the UN Security Council to take careful, appropriate and urgent steps to deal decisively with elements bent on fomenting trouble in the country.
